Lounge review

Sample

The Terrace Lounge

The lounge with the runway view: an outdoor terrace over the apron, a pool bar that stays open late and showers you can book before a night flight.

8/10daylight, runway views and proper seats to work or rest.

Access

Pay-in at the desk or online, plus most lounge programmes. The terrace is included in the fee, which is not true of every airport with a view, and the price is reasonable for what you get.

The space

An indoor lounge with low seating and a long bar, opening onto a covered terrace above the apron. At sunset the terrace is the best seat in the airport, and it is quiet enough to read in.

Food and drink

A grill, a mezze counter and a pool bar that stays open until the last departure. The coffee is strong and free, and the wine list is shorter than you would like but well chosen.

Showers and quiet

Six shower rooms with towels and toiletries, bookable at the desk. There is a quiet room with recliners on the indoor side, and the terrace itself is the calmest place in the building after nine at night.

Who it suits

Travellers with a long evening connection who would rather watch the aircraft turn around than sit under a ceiling.

Questions

Is the terrace open all year?

Yes, but from May to September the afternoon heat makes it unusable. Come before four or after eight, when the apron lights come on.

Do I need to book a shower?

During the day, no. After nine at night, when the connections peak, the desk keeps a list and it is worth joining it on arrival.

Is it better than the airline lounge?

For the view and the quiet, yes. The airline lounge has more food and a bigger gym, but it never empties.
