Lounge review

The Garden Lounge

A lounge built around a courtyard of ferns and still water: a noodle bar, a bath you can book, and a nap room that most travellers never find.

8/10a calm, green retreat before a long-haul flight.

Access

Open to anyone who pays at the desk or books online, plus most lounge programmes and business-class tickets. The day fee is among the cheapest of any lounge of this quality anywhere.

The space

One long room opening onto a planted courtyard, with low seating, a library wall and a nap room of recliners behind a door at the back. The garden is the point: every seat has a view of green, and the light in the late afternoon is lovely.

Food and drink

A noodle bar making bowls to order, a hawker-style buffet and a cake counter that is worth visiting twice. Coffee is free and good, and there is a small wine list for the evening flights.

Showers and quiet

Four shower rooms and two baths, bookable at the desk for a small fee on top of entry. Towels, toiletries and a hairdryer are provided. The nap room is genuinely dark and genuinely quiet.

Who it suits

Anyone with a long layover who wants a bath, a nap and a real meal without leaving the transit area.

Questions

Can I book a bath?

Yes, at the desk on arrival for a small fee on top of entry. Slots are 45 minutes and they run out on weekend evenings.

Is the day fee worth it for three hours?

For a shower, a nap and a bowl of noodles, yes. It costs less than the hotel room down the corridor and does most of the same job.

Does it get busy?

Between eight and ten at night, when the northbound flights board. Come before seven or after eleven and you will have the courtyard to yourself.
